Help Me 2kxl users!!

So, I use a 1000 (free jjos) and I love the 2000xl build and pads, so i bought one.... but my production technique is thrown off because I can't import my keyboard via midi/audio input (mixer monitoring) I do this so it's quantized, easier than having human error. So my question is... Is there a way around buying a separate mixer for midi/audio inputting my keyboard with the 2kxl? If not, I need a new technique of recording my keyboard into the 2kxl.

Please help me out!

I'm not clear on why you would require a second mixer?

How do you currently use the keyboard? I believe the MIDI input/output options between MPC1000 & 2KXL are basically the same?

I use my keyboard mainly alongside my MPC 1000 but with jjos there's an input thru mode so you can monitor the sound from your recording input without being in sample mode and record midi and sound. I do this to escape the human error of tripping on a note or timing issues. The normal way of hooking up a 2000xl is mpc hooked up to a mixer or DAW (or mixer) and keyboard slaved to the mpc with audio outs to the DAW. I Don't like the use of my computer with my mpc so I want to know if there's a way of recording my keyboard onto the mpc that doesn't require an extra piece of equipment like a mixer or daw. With the 1k I can use just the mpc and keyboard and get the mpc to record the keyboard via the input thru function. I would love this on my 2kxl

Ahh yes, no input thru on the 2000XL unfortunately. Mixer is probably your best solution.

The 2000XL is a older model so it has quite a few limitations compared to the 1k, and if your 2kxl has the 8outs expansion I would recommend getting a Mixer anyways so you can EQ your drums for example.

MPC midi out > keyboard > mixer > DAW
