successful IDE CF + SCSI-IDE adapter + 2000xl combos?

I apologize if a post like this exists. All i could find was info about the 60/3000 on this subject

so you want to know about no-hotswap (ide reader + scsi/ide converter board) for use with mpc2000xl.

no-hotswap == cf card must be in cf slot before power is applied to card reader. and cf card cannot be inserted nor removed when card reader is powered on. removing cf card will risk loss of data and/or corruption. (borrowed this def from someone else)

the most expensive part of this card reader assembly is the scsi /ide board.

i had one of these no-hotswap combos working perfectly with my mpc2000xl using operating system 1.14 before I sold it. i used this operating system because it allowed me to use 8gb and 16gb cf cards giving me plenty of storage. i would consider using this combo if there were no more hot-swap card readers available.

overall, these combos do work with the mpc2000xl.

I'm confused. The 2000XL has an internal ide port. What's the value in using a SCSI bridge?
Have I missed something?

The SCSI/IDE conversion supposedly allows you to access more than 1GB, up to as much as 16. Though non hot swap, the idea of accessing 16 GB of sounds is pretty good to me especially if it's cheaper.

I have atapi hotswaps in both my XLs although I have some suitable SCSI readers spare atm.
Maybe I should try one.

Don't think I could live without hotswap though. but that's just me.

Y'all read my internets. Those things are pricey AND technically obsolete. I guess it's only inevitable that when you get a MPC 2000XL in 2015 the next logical thing is to turn it into the Sega CD 32x..

I forgot about this, I thought IDE would still limit the machine to 1 GB. But then again I'm using OS 1.20.
