MPC 2000XL reporting 2 operating system versions?

I have an mpc 2000xl, that reports 1.2 in the misc screen yet shows 1.14c from the hidden screen and also it shows 1.14c when it drops to the debug screen. I have flashed the OS to 1.14 via a multi card ide reader, and also back to 1.2 via the zip drive all with versions from Akai's website. Is this normal behavior?

OS 1.14c was a beta OS developed before the Numark/inMusic takeover, I believe it was developed for CF drive support. When Numark bought the Akai brand they gave the existing XL stock a blue makeover, shoved CF drives inside and re-numbered the 1.14c OS to 1.2.

It sounds like they didn't remove some of the references to 1.14c in the code...

So this is something that I can find on all other Xl's running 1.2 as well?
