Mpc 2000 Sample Edit question

You know when you're in 'trim sample' and you set the start point?
Then you scroll past the start point on the end point but then go past the start point but it saves all the open space ?

How can I eject from that situation?

I am not sure what exactly you mean... when you move the end point somewhere in the middle of the sample.. and then move the start point towards the end point... if you dont stop before the end point it will start moving the end point forward ahead of the start point.

then move the start point backwards so you have a highlighted area... then chose to cut off the ends and it deletes everything not highlighted.


how you found a way to get a gap from colliding the endpoint into the start point is a mystery to me.

Sorry that was a terrible attempted explanation.
I suspect I was drunk.
Let me try again:

When editing a sample and trying to chop out a certain element, say a part in the middle, I set my start point, then when scrolling back to set the end point if I'm doing it fast sometimes I will accidentally go past the start point.

This seems to effect the Mpc, because when I readjust the start and end points to the desired place then go to CUT instead of it erasing the part of the sample before the start point it seems to keep it.

Was that any easier to decipherer?

I know exactly what you're talking about, happens to me all the time.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix or further edit it... guess I just try & be careful?

this is a bug on the 2000.... if you trim a sample.. the first time it works fine... then you trim some more later and it doesn't show the change in the waveform... but i believe it is trimmed.

if you actually save the sample.. restart the mpc and load it.... it works again for a trim or two before doing it again.. haha

I'll try the 'cut' start point method.

The turning off and on method is not gonna work for me, I'm trying to fit it all on a floppy disk!

But it's a bummer if you're trying to make it all fit onto 140mb

When it doe's it I just abort and sample it again, but I loose a bit of time.

I seems to do it for a reason
Which I'm sure would be useful if I could work out how to not do it,
But I never need to leave any undesired space at the point of saving.



Perhaps some of the old school heads can explain it ?

it's a bug... as mentioned... use zone edit. i exclusively use zone edit... and dont have the issue.

If it weren't for this thread, I would have forgot all about this bug since I only had it happen once. Zone Edit is solid.
