How long can these 2000xl last?

i was wondering how long can these mpc 2000xl last, i know parts for the old mpcs are getting hard too find?

The screen seems to be the only hard to find part. I really hope someone starts to manufacture them. That or someone figures out how to get an external monitor hooked up to the mp.

I'de have more faith in MPC-STUFF coming with a proper LCD. It might be taking a long time with no updates, but they get it. People don't wanna get gassed up with all these updates that arent even near a finished product. Talk about it when it's done, and it's done when it's done. Is the right attitude.

And Cloud777, don't worry about it. Like Wallace said, it's only the LCD really that's tough to find and even then you can still get them through different ways. Might take some searching. But with the LCD if it's a big problem, you can take extreme steps to help it. I drilled out the housing of mine, have a small fan on the back of it. I've not had a line in ages.

But most other things, sometimes can be something really simple. Even some of the IC's in there you can still get

Other than the notorious LCD screen, other parts for MPC-2000XL is pretty easy to find, and I find it relatively easy to repair (compared to 2000 classic.)
Rotary encoder that is used on 2000XL is one of the most common type. (search MPC Forums for the thread.)
Tact swtiches used on XL is one of the most common type as well.
The rubber Pad is still in production by MPC stuff dot com. (It's pretty good, I use theirs.)
Even for other obscure parts for 2000XL, there are abundant amount of 2000XL units on used market, so if you are DIYer, you won't have a hard time finding a donor unit.

its too bad that folks are so tight-lipped about progress on the lcd screen. some people have gotten really close.
but then ego / greediness gets in the way and they think its some sort of holy grail to lots of money - and so it all gets kept quiet.

i wish mpc-stuff the best luck developing it (if they are), but only because they have proven time and again to be an awesome dealer.

i think the machines will 'last' as long as you are willing to put the maintenance into it.
