8 outs making mpc ram unreadable (no sample time)

Hi everyone , i bought an 8 out w/ black caps for my mpc 2000xl mcd (blue one) and when it was installed and i booted my mpc up, it hanged on the detecting memory screen for about 5 mins , then after, was not able to load samples from my cards , so i checked my free memory and i had 0.0 secs w/ 0 megs of ram, but once its removed it detects my ram again , what would this indicate? if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

I seriously hope that you do not have the ribbon cable connected backwards.

Was it a real 8 out for the MPC or one taken from an s2000/s3000xl ?
