Panning sound through 8outs

Hi guyz! I was mixing a track in my 2kxl and i ve done some panning in some samples but when i route them through a stereo 1/2 for example the panning is gone. Is there any solution on this?

yes..

if it is a stereo sample (ie: you were able to route it to 1/2) then you now have separate volume control for 1 and for 2... so lower 1, and it is the same as panning to the right...

if it's a mono sample and it is going out of just 1... then in your daw or on the thing you are recording it to.... pan it on there

oops... there is a problem! i ve sent many samples in 5-6 if i do that will pan them all am i right??

hmm.. no.. you can only raise and lower the volume for a pad going to that output...

what maybe you might be able to do is... put the same sample on another pad as well.. and it will give you a separate control by assigning it also to another output... however i would not bother doing any of that at all..

the real thing you need to do is to mute tracks that make for several sounds going out the same output... record things one at a time doing multiple takes... that way in your DAW every single instrument is on it's own channel. THEN you can mix and pan it there.

hmmm thats the kind of work i want to avoid. what about sample them panned?

yeah if they are stereo samples you can do that... but it will take up twice the ram of mono samples

i'm wondering if you shouldn't convert some of these samples to mono.

sure... it seems that there are many wayz to make it. When i 1st asked though, i asked if it is just possible simply through mpc.

Personally I convert all the samples to mono and then assign them in the mixer section of the mpc... kick on output 1, hh on output 2, snare on output 3, etc. It might be a little longer than panning a stereo sample hard left or hard right but in the long run it gives you more flexibility and gives the full benefit of your 8-output card. Otherwise why bother getting the 8-output card if you're just gonna do the 'mute' thing for example... right?

Sure, i get that, but suppose you have 4 sounds, then what do you do? Do you export sound 1 hard left, sound 2 hard right, sound 3 hard left, sound 4 hard right? I'm assuming you also have to mute the other sounds as you do this.

Right, just checking... Yes I do sample in mono and personally use the 8 outputs right away, I never bothered doing it the way you describe, but it's cool to read about another way of doing things.

question…… If i sample some hihats in stereo…..why make them mono? or maybe I'm doing something wrong…...
