A guy named ”Izmael Verhage” is working on this Akai Mpc-2000 project which seems quite interesting.

Hi what's up, I'm working on an MPC emulator. Only have the 2000XL at home at the moment, so that's the emu I'm working on, but the code is suitable to reuse for a 3000 and 60 emu too, which I hope to make after the XL.
The idea is: emulate as much as possible. The vMPC as I've come to call it can already create, load and save 2000XL PGM, SND, MID and WAV. So you can work on an existing MPC beat, or start a new one on your laptop, and continue on the real MPC.
I'm also trying to make the LCD interface the same.
