Generally speaking, yes. You can get good quality for a lot less, I would try to get a 24bit interface with a sample rate of 96kHz/s minimum. My first interface was the M-Audio Delta1010 (24bit 96kHz/s), it worked fine to record my beats but when I started getting more gear and training my ear more I noticed it lacked quality. Now I have an RME Fireface800 it runs at 24bit 192kHz/s, although you are limited to what your session in your DAW is running at. Usually I mix at 24bit 48kHz/s and then master down to 16bit 44.1kHz/s(this is the same sample rate as the 2000xl, which is CD quality).
