No Sample Time

Hey i just brought an MPC2000 and booted it up, has a working scsi jaz drive and all but when i go to sample something i cant change the time from " ---.- " I pulled out the 16gb ram and put it into the other slot but nothing

Start by taking the ram out completely. If the screen shows 22 seconds (mono) or 11 seconds (stereo) then the 2mb onboard ram is working and you can use the MPC like this until you get new ram.

Yeah if the ram is isn't seated properly or if it is damaged your definitely going to see 0 secs of sample time. Since you already tried putting it in the other slot, you can also try cleaning the ram to see if that helps. If that doesnt work you may be stuck with 2mb of ram until you can get some more memory.
