MPC 2000 Not booting with 8 output card

Hi, this is my first post so go easy on me:)

Ive recently bought an 8 output card as i'm ready to do some final mixes of my music and want the separate tracks.

Unfortunately, when the card is installed the MPC wont get passed the first screen. Luckily when i take the card, i can boot up as normal so i haven't fried anything on the machine.

I replaced that 4.7 ohm resistor anyways just in case but no dice.

Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas?
the card looks clean and i'm handy enough with a soldering iron but can't figure it out:(

Have you verified that the ribbon connector is connected the right way?

it only fits one way so i presume thats right.

It does look like the previous owner has tampered with the ribbon connector though. Ive tested that a connection is being made from one end to the board though. Seems fine....

Top part of the ribbon connector is missing. Looks like it's been glued in place instead. Hopefully the glue isn't conductive.
That'll be where your problem is. I would start again by fitting a new ribbon (an old floppy ribbon will do it) or get someone to do it if you are unsure.

I concur. That is a shit job on that ribbon cable. If the cable wasn't put together correctly, you can have a crossed wire leading power potential elsewhere onto the mother board.

Im working on getting a new ribbon cable in now... i will let you know how i get on.

i've taken off the old ribbon.

I'd like to replace the ole connector to the PCB too...

Do you know the name/model of it?

I don't but I'm wondering whether you could replace it with a socket instead (from a floppy port on an old computer) as this would be a big improvement.
Not sure if a socket would solder straight in or not though.

I'm on a mission to get this working so i took a connection of a gotek floppy emulator that didn't work and soldered it in place..,.

My question is. which way round should the ribbon cable connect?

i've read stories of people frying components in their mpc and i don't want that:)
