I can hear the radio on my monitors along with my beat!

I just picked up some new equipment.
Among them I got set of krk powered 5s my 8 outs for the mpc 2000xl and a rolls rack stereo mic/line mixer.
You can imagine how anxious I was to get to the crib.
Well after setting up my 8 outs I put the rolls in the rack and set up the monitors.
I was just about to smile and feel great when I heard some radio broadcast on my new monitors.
Before this , everything was fine. I had been using some computer speakers that come with a powered sub before I got these.
No problems.
I did get a radio signal before but not that was with the turntable set up and that's cause my boy hooked up his fisher eq / system ( non pro) to my stuff.
As soon as I got his fisher out the way , the radio interferance was gone.
In order for you to be able to help me , let me explain what I have and what I dont.
My set up is :
Mpc 2000xl/ akai rack samplers , dbx pro-voc/ dod eq/mfc 42 / stanton dual cd/ behringer compresser / all going to the mac.
I have NO radio up here. No tuner. NOTHING to listen to the radio with.
However , I AM in the top floor and the people who lived here before me left an antenna ( an outside one ) in the space between my ceiling and the roof. It aint directly above me but it's not more than 5 five away.
I suppose that COULD be it but none of my stuff is supposed to accept a signal right?
I hope someone can help me cause I dont wanna return the rolls ,I got it for less than half off , and if I DO return it I can kiss any other hook ups goodbye. But when I hook it up , there's a big BUZZZZZ noise and I can hear the radio but I CANT hear my music.
When I take the rolls rack mixer out the chain , the buzz is gone but I can still hear the radio quite a bit.
Please help if you can.

move ur wires around. I used to have a bass guitar and when u would move it close to the amp in my lab, it would pick up crazy am religon stations. It scared the shit outta me and my boy one night. We were screwin around wiht a track and all of sudden u hear "DAMNATION AND HELL ARE UPON THEEE! U MUST REPENT TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!!!" took me like 10 mins to realize what was goin on. haha. my bass was acting as a huge anntenee. Move some stuff around.

I never knew a bass could do that , but check it , I have no acoustic stuff here in the house.
What I listed is all I have here because I let my boy use my other stuff.
Do you think the stuff I listed could possibly receiver that signal?
If so , how come my altec lansing computer monitors didnt pick that up?
They were working fine with no radio stuff and I put the krks exactly were the altecs were.
I hope something works out cause if I return the line mixer that kid is gonna be pissed and not give me any more hook ups and that's trouble cause I was about to make a come up in two weeks with them.

nah it dont have to do with the bass. I had an electric bass with an amp. its the electromagnetic feilds getting picked up by ur speakers.

This is not an uncommon problem, but is more usual with guitars & basses. Finding a more general studio forum should give advice ........ I think making sure all your cables are good, both electrical & audio, helps.

If you can, take down that outside antenna. That could be bringing a concentration of signals near your gear???

yeah, no doubt. Its the EmF feild. I started sampling a lot of late night talk radio, with a clean signal, but sometime my dj set up would pick up trucker on the highway. sometimes it would show up on my recordings, sometimes not. Try keeping tuners or receivers away from your rig. And spend the extra money on sheilded products, cables, monitors, even down to the rack screws.

I checked the articles...
Should I get some ferrites and if so who sells em at a nice price?
I checked musicians friend and saw nothing at their site.
I think someone suggested a power conditioner.
Would a fuhrman help?
If anyone has had this same problem please tell me exactly what you did to solve it.
I changed the position of my speakers , rack , etc but no matter where I put them I still get the signal and it's almost as loud as my music.

the tuner thing was fyi. You will notice on your electronics it says the FCC blarb about unwanted frequencies and reception. Sheilded is sheilded, but you can lower your chances from this happening, but if you live in a dense area with all types off RF going through the air-you cannot fight nature and the laws that come interference that is associated with an accumulation of gear.

check your set up for ground loops, and keep cell phones outta the studio-talk about unwanted noise/interference.

try wrapping your monitor cables with tin foil. RFs cannot penetrate tin foil......if that doesnt work then you jus have to locate which cables it is. it might even be jus a peice of equipment... but ill bet the foil works

actually, jus to clarify its ALUMINUM foil like what you wrap food up in or whatever, but i call it tin foil
