Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I have a problem with my MPC 2000 XL that came with a floppy drive.
I bought a CF Card Reader with an IDE 40 Pin Slot ... Inside of the MPC is a IDC 34 Pin from the floppy that doesnt fit ... So I need an IDE Cable I think ..

Would this one be the right?
http://www.ebay.de/itm/1-Stueck-30cm-IDE-Kabel-40pin-ID14477-/191305326321?

The next problem is: It fits inside the whole where the floppy drive was, but I dont know how to get it fixed so it doesnt hang around ... In this picture there is the floppy drive but no idea ... The Sd Card Reader is maybe half the length ... Do I have to make holes on the back of the mpc to fix it somewhere or do I need a Case or something? But I have no idea to do that because the reader has no wholes anywhere and it seems that it could easily be damaged :( Thanks for your help :/

Any IDE/PATA 40pin to 40pin computer cable will work for you. That cable you showed from eBay is extrembly expensive so I'd pass on that one. Try a mom and pop computer store or a friend who builds computers for the cable. Usually they'll just give it to you for free or very cheap.

For the CF drive, you will have to align it correctly in the MPC and drill holes in the card reader to secure it to your MPC bottom panel.

Yea I just have no computer store in my near so that would be ok :/ Problem is also I found no other then that that ships fast to germany ...

Maybe this one ;)

Ok, so that it fits where the holes on the ground are where the floppy was also connected? ... Hopefully it works I have to lend some equipment then for that :P Thanks man :)

He didn't say to drill holes in your MPC. He said to drill holes in the card reader bracket so that it can be mounted.

After a long time I'm again back at it ....I can use the internal floppy drive of the mpc 2000 xl right? A couple of months ago I made the mistake and connected the cf card drive to that white cable that was connected to the floppy drive and then with a 40 pin cable to the ide slot (I set the reader to master and all of that ...) but the mpc didnt recognize the reader and after some days I got very unmotivated cause nothing helped ....
I write later if that works ... Hopefully :| :!:

Edit: I again unpacked the package of the cf reader and I remember that a friend told me that it fits good into the 2kXL (so I cant put it into a floppy drive and have to replace it ...)
I really dont know what Im doing wrong but now the MPC doesnt recognize the floppy drive with the power supply that I used before for the reader (what didnt work) :( . Where I have to make the connections exactly? So I can figure out if the cable is broken or not ...
I made some photos of the contents of the cf reader package .... The power supply isnt right I think and I used the one of the internal floppy drive ... Maybe someone here can give me a advice for the cf upgrade :worthy:

No use for that I think:

The 40 Pin fem to fem cable (I hope its the right but I think so as it fits into the connections on the mpc)

You will require the MP2000XL OS v1.2 installed to use the Addonics & StarTech CF drives.
Any other OS will not work with those brands of card readers.

Thats strange. The jumper is set correctly to "Master". it should work straight out the box then.
What does the power cable connector look like that goes to the card reader from the MPC's motherboard?
Also could be the IDE cable. The one you showed from ebay has wires swapped from female end to female end (the twisted wires). I think the IDE cable has to be straight with no twists in the ribbon cable

Thx for your reply, really appreciating it! :)
I wrote that the floppy drive isnt working and I first thought it was the power connector: Its now working, it was the floppy connector cable (no idea how its really named, the other one then the power connector)

So I have a working power connector cable that I also connected with the startech drive. Was that right?
I was reading a lot on the internet and the startech drive really should work, as many use it ...
the 40 pin cable is also the right one? It is fem on both sides and thats what it should be right? And it has to be plugged in into the slots besides where the floppy is connected, right?

I really dont know what Im doing wrong, at the moment the floppy drive is connected again and working too, but I really hate to put 2gb of samples on zip discs ...

Which cable would be the right one (The IDE cable)? Would appreciate an european shop ... But I thought it would be the right one :/
