mpc, oxygen 8, cubase sx 2.2

ok...this is the post for syncing cubase with mpc connected to my midi keyboard...

i searched and searched, about 1200 search results came up for this situation...i still dont know how to connect these three and have them all in sync...im a newbie, and i talked to someone over PM, she explained it to me, but next day i came to check my PM's, the PM was GONE!!! AHHH...she had a step by step mini tutorial on how to do this...if anyone has some time, is there anyway you can help me out, step by step? i seem to mess it up all the time...remember i want my keyboard connected as well so i can play VSTi's...thanks alot, i hope i find some help!!! peace!

You can only use midi clock with SX if you use SX as the master. If you want to use the MPC as the master you need to use MTC (midi time code). Make sure that the frames on the MPC & SX are the same. I prefer using 30 Frames per second. In this case the MPC only needs to send the MTC not receive.

Getting the keyboard to play vst's is real easy if you'll be using Cubase to record the notes. If you want the mpc to record the midi, things get a bit more complicated so lets' stick with the first scenario right now.

hook up your Oxygen 8 to your pc with the usb cable, and install the drivers (If you haven't already done that).
Fire up Cubase and insert a new miditrack.
Open the vsti panel, and load your vsti.
Click on the miditrack, and in the track inspector (on the far leftside of your screen) set midi "IN" to "usb Keystation".
Set "out" to the vsti you've loaded.
that's it. I forgot if you need to enable the monitor button on a miditrack to hear it, just try it.
