Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Does anyone have any knowledge they can share with me about maintaining or replacing the data wheel encoder for the MPC 2000 Classic? It is acting erratically and will only scroll one way no matter which way it is turned.

What steps would I take to clean the encoder to see if that helps?

If I attempted to replace the encoder, what steps would I take?

Hey! I'm not sure if you can "repair" the wheel encoder. I suggest the following : remove the top case (there's lots of screws, but it's quite easy) of the MPC and try to spray some contact cleaner inside the wheel encoder. Spray a little, turn the wheel to make sure the contact cleaner goes everywhere inside, and do this step just a few more times. If it doesn't help, you will need to replace it.
