I recently installed the Addonics IDE-CF Adapter (ADIDECF,ADIDECFB) and it's been working well with this Sandisk 4 mb CF Card from 1997; used just to test it and it popped up on my screen as Atapi and formatted it no problem. Than I bought these 1gb Sandisk CF cards from 2004 recently; I was very excited I got 10 of them and I tried a bunch and every single one does nothing. My mpc Dosent show the ATAPI drive option.
If anyone has any idea why these cards aren't working or know of any that are compatible with this card reader and mpc I would greatly appreciate the info.
Thank you! :worthy:

You might have purchased fake Sandisk Branded CF cards. There are a lot of fake ones on the market.
I have a 1GB Sandisk CF card with "(C) 2000 SanDisk" mark on it, and it works fine with my XL with non-swappable CF reader.

SanDisk, Lexar and Kingston are my faves.
Steer clear of the CF cards going for stupid cheap prices coming from China.

I scored two dozen Transcend 2 gig cards for $20 off Craigslist last summer and they've been working great. The guy I bought them off of said something about how there's two different kind of cards though: one that's like solid state or something and one that's variable or writeable. Only one of those kinds work with our MPC's and from what I understand, most of the newer cards being manufactured are the incompatible kind.

you can also try a low level format on the pc. even legit ones i have bought from reputable stores have sometimes come formatted strange...i got some that were just unpartitioned once.
so it might be worth throwing it in a computer and getting real nerdy with it.

Hmm they possibly could've been fake but I paid like 80$ for 10 of them. Off of eBay. I don't have a card reader for my pc so there's no way to mess with that or I might of gave it a shot. And that definitely makes sense about some of the older cards only working with our mpc's. I can return them so Ill probably end up doing that and finding something different, I'll look for some of those brands. So 2gb cards work too?
Thank you very much for your support! :worthy:

Also I'm pretty sure these cards are authentic here's the link there's photos on there. I think it may just be because of the format like you said or because it's a newer card.

I've always used Sandisk and lexar in my triton extreme and 2kxl. Never had a problem.

I also have a cheapo usb multi card reader that i can plug into my pc anytime I need it.

Triton Extreme can also usb to computer SAME as mpc1k/mpc2500.

The CF card reader I have I found at Best Buy for like $20 if you want to find out as quickly as possible to see if you need to reformat them in the PC; a little quicker than ordering one of Amazon and easier to return if you end up not wanting it.

I formatted just like this pic, windows, FAT, ONLY use 8 character filenames and I've NEVER had a problem.

And this is the cheapo usb multicard reader I have, it's almost 10 years old.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I haven't come acrosed any other cf cards. But, I found a compact flash card to micro sd adapter. Does anyone know if these work in these type of compact flash card readers for our mpc's. I have tons of micro sd cards and that would be a lot easier and cheaper. Thank you again! :worthy:
