MPC 2000 With External Zip Drive

Hi folks.

This is possibly a daft question, but can I use MPC 2000XL disks with my MPC2000 with an external zip drive connected? Or do I need MPC 2000 specific zip disks?

I have an Iomega 250mb zip drive connected via scsi to my MPC2000. The MPC recognises the drive and even the files on it, but won't load them, and the screen says each file size is 0k.

Any help much appreciated. I have searched and searched for an answer but I have a feeling my question may be too simple.
