Fat pads with cork issues

I bought my 2000XL off a mate of mine who bought it from MPCstuff.com. It came with the fat black pads.
I recently changed all my little buttons over, and realigned the corks properly underneath the pads, and sensors seemed a little dirty so I gave them a wipe down.

Now it seems the top right (pad 16) sometimes gets stuck, like it holds the note down. The cork is correctly in place though.

Do you think the cork is sticking to the sensor? And would you recommend trying without the corks? Just asking before going through the whole process of pulling her apart again and wasting time.

Btw, I do tend to bash the pads pretty hard, so maybe I don't need the corks? Or are the corks recommended for the fat pads?

i like the pads on that machine stock - i dont think you need the corx. as for it sticking, maybe you just didnt reseat the sensor pad correctly. take it apart, wipe it down (dry) again, and put it back together with a little more time.

IMO the corx are essential, sensitivity just isn't there without them. As tapedeck states, stuck notes indicate the pad isn't seated properly, probably getting pinched by the casing. I find you need to massage the pads a bit during and after installation.

Cool, I'll have another look at the seating... I am though, curious about the pads without the corx. I tend you bash the pads hard when making beats anyway.

Agreed. Got the fat pads for my 2k and pad 4 does get stuck sometimes not triggering a sound/sample assigned to that pad. IMO without the corx seemed as if I was striking bare metal lol. Took the pads off traded them out with my MPD24 pads (which were a crap build to me) was working like a charm. The corx were an improvement. Only thing was sometimes they were too sensitive and would double trigger the pad or the one right next to or under. But I won't remove them. I just have to do what was noted and just massage back onto the sensor. Then it's smooth sailing. I do feel the hardware mpcs are designed for "beating up" lol...now that REN I will barely touch it feels like a hollow bone about to break any moment with even the smallest strike lol
