Pad question

So I recently got a 2kxl, first time I've ever messed with anything like this, and first time out of fruity loops. The pads all work but sometimes when I hit a pad it'll trigger the sound twice in quick succession. It sounds like a tiny delay. Obviously this is not OK. Now, would the easiest fix be to get new pads or is there a menu where I can mix the sensitivity of the pads? Much appreciation, hope to post more here. Thanks!

I think it might be.....you do have to be quite punchy with the pads even at low velocity....

I vaguely remember thinking something similar when I first got my 2kXL

is it happening on all pads or just a few specific pads?

It´s not the pads...it´s you. You´ll have to adopt the technique of pushing pads right...lift your finger off quicker...

I find older MPCs are prone to double triggering - never have this problem with any of the newer MPCs (MPC1000 or newer), but whenever I get my XL or 4000 out I find I have to adapt my playing style. I certainly don't remember my XL ever having this problem when I first got it back in 1999, so it might be related to the sensors, or as others have said, it might just be technique to which the newer MPCs are less sensitive to.

Hit it harder from now on? Ok, can do. Does anyone put anything under their machine to prevent it from being too loud while using the pads? I mostly work with headphones on but I feel like I'll annoy my roommates just bashing away at 3 in the morning.

Dude, when I came from an MPD to an MPC 2000XL, I thought, holy sh1t! This thing is loud as hell when I hit the pads. It's like the whole damn case rattles. Then quickly realised it's a 15 year old machine, it may rattle, but it's solid as a tank.

My point is, it takes a little while to get used to the rattle, if it annoys you at first, use headphones and laugh at the person in the same room watching TV haha.
