Weird Effect on Sound Every 4th Hit of the pads.

Hey guys!

Im new to this forum, and signed up to ask you all this question. ive been scouring the internet for weeks/months trying to figure this out and have read thru so many threads still to find no answer.

I have the mpc2000XL and everything on it was working great up until recently. No matter how many times i turn off and on my mpc, whenever i load sounds into the banks/programs and assign them to pads, no matter which pad I hit, every 4th time i hit a pad, it sounds like the sound is going thru some sort of hi-pass/low-pass effefct. I checked my effects board and nothing is switched on, all the settings are correct.

I can't tell if this is a RAM problem, if I may need to re-install my OS? or maybe shes just **** lol.

I had a problem with two of my 2kXL pads and he fixed them for a reasonable price. He's a good dude.

Could be the sensors going bad... or worst case scenario the mainboard is on it's way out. But I could be wrong of course...

if you record that into the sequencer... does it do the same on play back?

Every 4th tap seems way to consistent for this to be the issue...but maybe one of the audio outputs is dying? I have samplers that audio gets weird on if you overload the signal by triggering too many samples/sounds back to back (and I don't mean polyphony-wise). Tap a pad 3 times and come back 15 minutes later to tap it a 4th you'll have it better figured out.

If it's not the RAM, only other thing I could think of is a capacitor or resistor going bad somewhere. Every button tap is sending voltage through something and if it's happening on the 4th tap, then either the voltage from that 4th tap is overloading a bad capacitor or whatever a capacitor's got stored up is sending something through a bad resistor on the 4th tap. Of course those kinds of problems could directly affect the RAM too.
