Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

It was bent, so I tried to straighten it up. Then I noticed it wasn't responding. I pushed on it a little bit and then it clicked into some kind of slot which brought it back to life, but the movement was really stiff and tight. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

You know, I was just thinking.....this seems to b a HUGE problem with the 2000s....it's like every time I come on the forum (okay....which is like 5 times a day....so I'm an addict...better than crack, anyway), I see a post like this. Mine's busted too (though mine broke because mine fell during a gig, and it broke the living shit out of the slider). Why is this such an issue? The rest of the MPC seems so durable, but this damn little fader breaks ALL the time on these boxes....WHY? If Akai can build everything else to a good spec, why not the fader? Is it just because it's a moving part, and the rest of it really isn't (aside from the buttons and pads, but that's a whole different set of technologies...). Just weird. C'mon....there has to be a more durable replacement. Or is this just one of those things where all the MPCs are hitting "that age" where certain common mechanical flaws appear? mpc3000, please feel free to jump into this one.....I always enjoy your insight into electronics, as I have MUCH less.....

Peace all,

mpc3000 mentioned to me he made a post that even had the part number for the slider in it. I've been searching for a bit but haven't tracked it down. If any of you guys can, please let me know.

Good look. I already have a zip drive though. But you can consider the slider already in the mail.
