HELP!! 2KXL has no working buttons

Ay, so I've had this mpc for over a year now and have had no problems with it. Today, I unpacked it, (cause I've been moving), turned it on and ZERO buttons worked.

I'm talkin NOTHIN, no wheel, no pads, no F buttons, play start, stop, record, menu keys, number pad, absolutely nothin is working.

I've never had a single problem with this machine. I struggled with the cf card mod for a little, but I got it running and now it works perfectly.

The only other problem similar to this I've had was turning it on and the boot up screen didn't say "MPC2000XL" and then proceed to the main screen, it just stayed blank. But for that I turned it off and back on and it was fine. That was some months ago now.

But with the buttons not working, it boots up fine, goes to the main page like normal, there's just no buttons to control the screen, it's like all the microswitches under the plastic buttons are dead, I would imagine they're not cause two weeks ago it was in perfect use.

Anybody have this happen to them? If so, what was the problem? And how'd you fix it?

Don't know if it matters, but I'm runnin OS 1.2 and everything is stock but the card reader....

Unplug your MPC from the power source and open your MPC.
Check all internal connections and ribbon cables that they are fully inserted and connected.

I tried this initially, no luck. And the weird part is, everything on the inside is in there tight, the ribbon cables, transistors all of it is snug. Any other suggestions??

Unplug the card reader.

Nothing, what do I dooooo!?!? I'm getting really frustrated cause there's nothing visually off and all the cables, capacitors, transistors are all snug. I'm beginning to think that it was shorted out and fried something on one of the boards.....

I don't know, I'm not an electrical engineer I don't know how to do this kinda stuff

Is the fuse still intact?

also try removing and booting with no memory installed.

basically anything that it will run ok without, try disconnecting. bring it down to bare minimum and if it runs, start plugging things back in until you find out what the problem is.
