help, I'm used to the 1000 and I'm making a beat on an XL...

I'm helping my boy work on a track on an XL that he just got and I'm trying to figure out how to cut off a sample when you play another sample. I know on the 1000 they're called mute groups. I'm trying to have the closed highhat cut off the open highhat so that it will sound more realistic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if its part of a kit i thought it did it by itself. if not you gotta turn the samples to mono. its probably on poly. i forgot what the screen was called where u gotta go on the mpc so my information is probably irrelevant. but im sure this is what u wanna do.

I thought mono would only turn off the same sample. It prevents the same sample from overlapping.

if thats the case then you probably wanna use the note off option. that turns the sample off when you release the pad. im not in front of my mpc so i cant tell you step by step. hope this helps you homie

No no no. What you want to do is go to the part on Params where you change Poly, Mono, etc. and press Open Window. It should be pretty easy from there.

nanoloop do you ever read other people's answers before posting your own?

is there anyway of getting more than two mutes out of a single pad assignment? i have been able to work around this limitation but i could use more mute assignments or a dedicated 'mute grouping'.
