So I love my 2000xl, I got it mostly stock a few months back with 18mb of ram and a floppy drive. upgraded to CF reader, cleaned under/around pads, and put it back together. Now after a while, I've noticed a *very* subtle whining/buzzing sound in the left ear of my headphones when audio is played from the MPC. I'm not sure when it started - like i said, it's very subtle, It's easy to miss. But I've tested it with my speakers and the same noise is in there too, but also only in the left channel. So it's unlikely its a headphone problem.
Now for some of the weirder things about this bug... if i load a sample that the buzzing is pretty easy to hear on, and test it out, the buzzing actually gets higher and lower pitched with the velocity that i trigger the sample with. I do not have 16 levels on, I restart, clear ram, etc, but the buzzing is always there. I did not pan anything hard left, so no obvious explanation for why its only in that left ear. Aaaaand it's present in all the output jacks, exact same thing. Headphone out, and mono outs.
Now, one more thing. It doesn't appear to be a corrupted sample or ram issue that I can see, because I opened it up to take a look and I swapped the one ram board in there for 2 new 16mb ones that I ordered online for it a while back (they work properly when I tested), so the ram shouldnt be broken/damaged. As for corrupted samples, that doesn't seem to be the case either. If I clear the MPC's ram by rebooting it and turning off the auto-load from drive sequence, and go to sample, anything i play through the inputs (80hz tone being easiest to hear it on) will have the buzz as well when monitoring them in my headphones. Very last thing, if I change the recording gain while playing that tone, the frequency of the buzzing/whine will go up the higher the gain and then down the lower the gain. BUT this doesn't happen that I can hear when I turn the volume knob while monitoring. and if it's relatively low gain when recorded, its still there, so no noise issue.
It's pretty frustrating because I love my MPC and it's just such a joy to work with, but this issue has stopped me from using it much lately.
So thanks for putting up with my formatting, I just made an account here because I am absolutely stumped on this issue and cannot find any help on google, reddit, etc. Any questions/things I can clear up to better let you guys know my problem, let me know. I'd seriously appreciate some help here because I do not want this buzzing in my recordings, especially in just one channel.
