mpc2000xl - external 1GB jaz drive - problems

hi,

i've just bought a cheap jaz drive to use with the mpc. i've formatted the disk loaded my samples on to it, but the mpc won't read the disk. it recognises the drive and wont do anything else. whats wrong? does the disk need to be formatted from the mpc instead of the pc??? can anybody help.

Yes, the disk has to be formatted by the MPC.
