Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I prefer to have the MPC be the master and Cubase slaved, but it is not working at all. My only other option is to have Cubase as the master. As weird as it sounds it will not work the other way around. Why? Who knows, maybe a Cubase bug. This brings me up to my question. Since I will have to use the MPC as a slave, will my audio keep the MPC timing flavor when I dump it into Cubase or will it now adapt to Cubase.

you mean the swing and timing correct, I presume.

however you have it in the sequence, it will play back the same way when you have it slaved to cubase, or any other sequencer. as long as the MTC or midi clock is sync'd, it'll play however it was sequenced.

I have my mpc as master and cubase as slave. There's no reason this shouldn't work.
Have you set everything up correct, and did you click "sync online" ?

Your timing will not be off with the mpc being the slave cause all you have cubase doing is telling the mpc to start when i start. There is nothing else as far midi go being done. To me the reason why th mpc should be the slave is because you might be cutting off some of your music doing it the other way. Kind of like being in a race and saying"on your march get set and go" you would get a better start if you was to just let sombody else say it for you. Some people want the mpc to be the master as if something magical is being kept but nothing is really being done.

2000xl with Cubase sx 2.0
I have an RME soundcard and a ESI RoMI/O midi interface.
I use MTC at 25 fps and MMC.

Try seaching for my name (ieism) and "sync" on the forum. I've posted about this lots of times.

I had started a post a few weeks ago similar to this. I have been unsuccesful at getting the MPC to sync as master but as Cubase slave it works. This bugs me out. How it will work one way but the other it wont. I have spent crazy hours trying to get somewhere with this. Thats why I have given up and will use Cubase SX as the master. Just wanted to make sure it would not kill my arrangement once it is transfered into cubase as audio.

Ieism why haven't you upgraded to SX 2.2?

Good point. I'm pretty lazy like that. my pc in the studio is not hooked up to the internet so i'll have to download it at home etc.
