Make sure you install OS 1.20 and that card reader will work fine.

I was showing examples, you don’t have to purchase if you don’t want.

I’ve had my ATAPI mcd on 2kxl with 1.14 os forever and 5 days and have never had an issue with my 512mb card. Never used 1gb and above card, no need imo.

IDE is not hotswap. ATAPI is hotswap. Same 40pin motherboard connector.

Get a SCSI2SD card reader. You’ll thank us later.

I make a little research about SCSI2SD i found a couple but i found this also
and i wonder the only difference beside off them its the SCSI2SD is hotswappable and the ide sd reader is not ?

You cannot have hotswap if SCSI or IDE is involved.

"You can Hot swap with the SCSI2SD as long as it has firmware version 4.0 or above."

Or i get it wrong??

If Juke said that then go with that. He is highly credible.

So is richie, both have big brains.

So, im stiil confused, can you tell me the diffrences between the SCSI2SD and IDE SD reader,
Why should i give 70 $ for a SCSI2SD and not 8$ for a n IDE SD reader?

@Ayto there are to many things to list regarding differences. What is important to understand is:

- If you buy the China $8 IDE card reader, it will work in your XL just fine. You will only be able to format that card to 1GB FAT32.

- If you buy the SCSI2SD, you will have a lot better storage configurations to use. You will have to visit the SCSI2SD webpage to look into those options. The gist of it is that you will be able to utilize much more storage space. SCSI partitions can be formatted up to 9gb, and since the SCSI2SD has 4 Emulated virtual disks, it effectively multiplies the allowable storage to 4x9 GB.

As for you. I think you should stick with the $8 China one. The time in shipment, customs will inflate the cost of the SCSI2SD which may or may not be something you are fine with. I own 4 SCSI card readers because I'm a cool guy but I still only use the IDE one I have installed in my XL because it fits all my needs.
