Im just curious to know how you guys store your Pgms...Seq's...Sounds/samples on large storage devices

I usually just create a folder for each song I do and slap it all in there. Recently, Ive started to transfer/copy my drums/samples on to a HD and take it from there.

Basically, what I've started doing is making folders for Programs...Seq's, Samples and Midi files. For instance, I have a program saved on my zip...I load it up on my MPC...Save the program (only) to the HD in the program folder then save the samples to the sample folder. Nice and tidy!!!!!

However, I noticed today that when I load a program up (From the program folder) the MPC cant find the samples....Even tho they are on the drive. Obviously the seperate folder route is to complex for the MPC to handle (from what I can make of it anyway). Or am i doing something wrong AKA trying to be to tidy!) Is it a case of having to save program files in the same folder as the samples?

How do you do it?

They need to be in the same folder/directory.

I've been trying to figure out a way to keep everything nice too since I got my hard drive. All I have now is two folders of misc. stuff. Not really organized yet.

LOL

Yea, i figured! The way im doing it, is to have a folder where programs & its contents go. I can have a seperate Seq folder and a MIDI folder so its all good really

That way, I just load up what Im using/need, build my sequences etc then name and save the Seq to its folder. Thats still quite tidy!

I have 2 SCSI devices daisy chained to my MPC and an internal zip. I transfer the sounds from my PC to my MPC via CD-rom or Jaz disc. Then I load from the CD or Jaz to the internal zip. I name each folder for it's song. Then I store the .pgm and .seq or .all files in that folder on my internal zip. This way I can load up quickly. Seems convoluted, but it works for me.

i have one zip drive hooked to my xl. when i make a beat i create a new folder and title it after what i sampled from. then i save the program with sounds to that folder. then i save the sequence to that folder. when i want to bring it up open the folder and BAM there it is.
