mpc readable cd....

im trying to use an external cd drive/burner instead of zip (as mine has just **** up)..... now, my mpc can see the drive, just not any of the files on the cd.......

any one know what i should do?....

i have a 2000, not an xl.....

If the files are in folders on the CDthe MPC2000 original will not read it ,instead it will read this "????????????"...

yo i got an external zip and i got the same prob.
my mpc2kxl can recognize that there is a disk in it, but has the question marks like u say....and also, i can unload sounds from the disk, but it wont let me save anything.....it just says disk error...

will try out a cd without any folders in it, and ill try close the session.... should work (hopefully....) ill get back to ya's if it dont work!....

Do you format the zip drive B4 saving your files, causeyou may have a corrupt file on the zip disk itself...

2k/2kxl cannot BURN cd's.
2k/2kxl cannot save data/files/samples TO cd.

Read/Write 100/250mb zip.
Read/Write floppy.
Read/Write SCSI HD.
Read SCSI CD drive.

And from what has been written on these pages
the CF can work just like ZIP/HD/Floppy.

so then what the **** going on?, i got the right plugs, i have tryed heaps of diff burnt cd's thinking it may be the actuall cd.........

and to everyone who has read wrong, i never said i wanted to burn FROM my mpc.... i was stating the thing is a drive/burner wondering if that was a prob..... know what i mean?...

Some CD's don't work correctly with certain brands of CDrw drives.

There was also a thread on this a while back somewhere about the CD's having to be written in a certain format. ISO9660 level 1 I think it was.

I have a Plextor SCSI CDr drive hooked up to my 2kxl. Via my XP and Nero I burn a CDR/CDRW disc using the above mentioned format and I've been able to read/load into the MPC w/no probs, I used Memorex CD's.

Maybe you could try using the same format when burning your data/samples onto CD from the computer, then try to load it and see what happens. I also did not use folders when burning BTW.

The 2000 doesn't like standard computer burnt CDs (XL reads them fine) - you need a CD that is formatted in MPC or Akai 1000/3000 format. TO do that, you need special software that burns an Akai image from a Akai formated SCSI drive. DISK2FILE I believe it is called.
