Saving beats on my MPC 2XL

I was having a lot of trouble saving on my 100MB internal zip drive with the MPC 2XL. I have been saving the program under a name and all sequences and songs under the same name. But what has been happening, is that when I turn the MPC on to start another beat. It automatically loads the tempo, sounds, and sequences of the other beat. How do I clear this while keeping the last beat, and start a new one. Up till now i've only been able to keep 1 complete beat on a 100MB Zip Disk. And this is a HUGE problem. I would greatly appreciate any help that anybody could give me.

It sounds like you got your machine on auto load - Meaning that when u turn on the MPC it loads up all programs and seq's stored on your MPC

To turn this off, SHIFT>Load (3)....SETUP (F4)....You will see 'AUTO LOADING :' Set this to OFF

Now try and see what happens

Thanks a lot for that info. I had another question. What do you save when you finish making a beat. Do you save a program and sounds (replacing same sounds), and all songs and sequences when your working on a beat. Or do you save something else. Once again, thanks a lot for the first piece of advice.

I'd suggest...Creating a folder and naming it after the track ur working on...Then, save All programs & Sounds inside it. No need to replace same sounds. Do the same with All Sequences & Songs

I'm sorry, i've never done anything like that before, could you be a little more specific. If I go to the root file and push the open window button, I then push new and name it the name of the beat, and then save both the all sequences and songs file and the program and sounds file in there. And I DONT replace same sounds.(doesn't this waste disk space, or does it not matter?)
