Sequencing Vocals?

Does anbody out in TV land sequence vocals on there MPC2000xl?I've got several acapellas available that I would like to remix but I don't have a computer or multitracker to record the vocals on.My MPC has plenty of memory to record 4 or 5 verses and the hook.I toyed around with it today abit but I was not pleased with the results due to the beat drifting from the vocals.Maybe I'll have to treat the vocals like I would an instrument sample and zone/chop the shit out of it to get it to stay in time.Anyway if you work like this let me know because I am trying to find ways to get the most out of my MPC.I am trying to make my productions using nothing more than my MPC and the crates no sound modules no fancy recording set ups.

well u fig if the emcee went by common song arrangement the verses will be 16 bars. so 16 cuts one per bar. i would do that then trigger each bar to the beat with step edit.

Yes, It can be done. Exactly as Bing said. Sometimes though the vocal bar will start before the MPC bar so you'll have to trigger the vocal bar right before the end of the previous sequence in song mode, meaning you might sometimes have to trigger the vocal bar in the bar before it so that it is in good timing..

i do all my remixes like this and i dont have to butcher verses. Its all about matching the tempo of the beat to the accapelly exactly.

If you are given an acapella to remix, it is good to try & also get the beats & music that the vocals were recorded to so you have some clues to tempo & key.

In many cases it depends how good the vocalist's timing is as to how easy it is to work with their acapella. Sometimes you might be able to trigger a long section when you start your MPC, & it still runs tight 16 bars later. Sometimes you might find you need to cut down to individual words & syllables to get it to fit. If you really want to remix things you might want to cut words up to make new sentences.

But don't forget, some songs work really well with vocals sitting really loosely on tight beats, so maybe try working your remix that way.
