Question

Hi, Is the XL restricted to sampling from vinyl only?
I've been experiencing frequent crashing while I would be working on something. Sometimes the screen would go blank with the machine coming back to life in a few seconds or it just restarts. Also, the LCD screen would blink and I would have to manually restart it.
Someone told me that sampling from the pc could crash the machine. Just looking for someone to verify this claim. I don't know what's wrong with my XL, I've purchased it from a seller on eBay with a good feedback rating. The seller also stated that this XL was fully serviced. It has been less than a year and I'm experiencing these problems. Lastly, does anyone know where I could send it for repairs? I don't know If I should repair it or just get rid of it. You can't crash it from sampling. That's just silly talk.
Have you tried opening it up and checking that the RAM sticks are fully seated? Check all internal connections that they are fully inserted onto the circuit boards.
Do you have the 8-outs installed?

Someone told me that sampling from the pc could crash the machine.
They lied and don't know what the fukk they are talking about or just messing with your head.

I don't know If I should repair it or just get rid of it.
Explore all problems before going that far.

I offered to buy it off of him and he quoted me $300 and is trying to sell the 8 out separately for $250. *shrug*

do not trust whoever told you this. they are grossly misinformed. be cautious.

$300 for an working xl is a good deal.

NOT TRUE!! You can sample off of a woodpecker's ass pecking an oak tree and still get some nice stick sounds.

Thanks for the help, I spent too much for this XL I only purchased it because it was stated as fully serviced a few months later I started having this problem. I Purchased it for 9 hundred something. I only said 300 because I thought that was a fair price compared to the 900 something I paid. If I knew a working XL went for 300 I wouldn't have said 300, but the thing is I've never seen an XL that was operating flawlessly for 300 Cad on ebay......
I live in Canada and the currency sucks here. Also, I had to pay import charges which made it cost a lot more. In Canada, it's really hard to get your hands on an XL so I'm just going to keep it and send it for repairs.

its not a terrible deal though. if you put 200 more into it youll have a fully working xl and thats not a great deal but its not a terrible deal.
900 is a bad deal any day of the week.

I know other posters have said it before RE you can sample anything... I've plugged my guitar/Juno synth/DVD player (audio out) and vinyl straight in and sampled away. It loves it all and it sounds great doing it too!
