Ok Im Going To Go Look @ A Few Used Mpc's....

any tips? its my first mpc so i wanna make sure everything works good.. any tips on what to look out for?

there are a few things you can do. get a copy of the manual of akai's site. theres one function that tests the pads and there velocity responce. and annother, press open window in the sampling screen to see how much ram it has too.

Make sure the data wheel works. I bought a used one off eBay in which the data wheel was not functioning. Cheap fix, but scared me anyway.

look for lines in the screen.
look to make sure the note variation slider works.
make sure the floppy works.

yeah...how do you do this? i mean checking the function that tests the pads and their velocity responce. i know how to do it in the 1000 but the 2000xl? please. hook a broham up.

theres a secret screen that u can check the velocity values and pitch slider..heres the link to do it .. good luck

One thing to DEFINITELY check out is the note variation slider....these things seem to go out pretty easily on used MPCs....read the manual up on it and then test it out. The data wheel was a good idea too....and look for any faint lines on the screen running horizontally; that's a good sign the screen's going out.
