It took me ONE TRY at timestretching in side of 2kxl.
I never used it again.

If you want to time stretch on MPC2000XL faster than that, clear all other samples (free the RAM), and execute the re-sampling. The operation would be faster. In my experience, it would take a few minutes for a few seconds of mono sample to generate a time-stratched sample. (I haven't done it for while though.)
I think that function was really bonus feature of XL, and it was left half-baked. But I found it useful sometimes.
It can be used as a crude way of pitchshifter, within 2000XL alone.

i tried resampling once back in the mid 2000s... still waiting for it to finish

It IS finished you just can't see it because of the display lines ;)
