Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Alright everyone

Had my mpc2000xl for a couple of weeks. Everything has been great, but the last few days when trying to eject zip disks they've been getting stuck and making that perpetual clicking sound. Is this the fated clicking? I've been able to load from disks fine.

Yep. Sadly it’s a goner.

ALL Zip drives are fated to click to death. You should start copy your data on Zip disks to other data storage.

Ah, OK thank you.

On a side note, if i'm crazy enough to replace it with another ZIP drive, it's just a simple swap out? I've see many tutorials but they're usually to install a ZIP replacing a floppy drive.

Yes it’s a simple swap out. If you want to replace it with another Zip drive, I’d go with a Zip750 drive. I never had problems with a 750 in my MPC2000XL and Roland SP-808.
But... it’ll only read Zip100 discs and not write to them. Zip250 & Zip750 discs work fine tho.
