MPC 2000 screen repair

Has anybody had any luck repairing their screens with the method outlined in this video? It seems plausible to apply this repair technique to screens other than the Gameboy.

I've tried everything with client's effed up original MPC2000/XL screens and they were never the same again.
I know MPC traditionalists will cringe at my answer but … Save time, heartache and your eye sight and install a new blue LCD screen.

I second this...I was able to run an iron on my ribbon and get it to come back to life for a little while but weeks later more lines. It's a deadend. Akai cheaped out on these displays, prolly never expected people to use them for 20+ years.
