as you already know the auto chop method you can quickly use to get coarse phrase slices,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFXVl4BWp54

in short, the same idea except you can use the decay switch to access 2 more entire sections of samples.

so I would maybe take a 24 second phrase and cut these into 3 separate 8second phrases and assign them to A01 A02 A03.

pad A01
decay sw:
if over 96use A02
if over 99use A03

set all 3 pads:
as mono overlap
open window overlap to mute eachother
velocity level = 0
velocity start = 100
decay start

use note variation slider on A01 for

decay :
max 100
min 95

use 16 levels on A01. and that actually works get 48 different sample splices all on a mute group. have fun with that!

Very cool man, thanks for sharing that. I almost wonder if this is an inadvertent result from a bug in the os.

yeah this works on all MPC models btw. I believe the intention of the sample start velocity was supposed to create realistic kick drum that is a little late on weaker hits, but why would it be 5 whole seconds late?

I think some of those program assignments are redundant, still honing this technique, I have some more suggestions on getting the phrase to come out in an almost predictable manner.

each layer only chops around 4.2seconds so can spread a around 16second phrase across all 3 layers.

sample ~16 seconds.
adjust your start point to a usable sound in TRIM
discard before after

copy sample twice

adjust the 2nd of 3 samples start point for the best chop @ or around 20,000
discard before after

adjust the 3rd of 3 samples start point for the best chop @ or around 40,000
discard before after

if you want to save space you can adjust total sample length for all around 27,500
discard before and after

mistyped, meant 200,000 samples 400,000 samples lol

also the decay settings don't matter on your 2nd and 3rd layers but your mutes do matter.
