note variation slider for midi control

This is a question for the mpc 2000 users. The note variation slider has a field that allows you to enter a continuous controller number (cc#) in order to control external midi devices such as a synth. in my case a trinity. I have never been able to get this to work. anybody have any ideas?

You must have misread the manual. That is used to allow an external incoming CC to control the NV slider (not the other way around).
