Slicing/chopping a loaded .Wav file

Hey!

I'm used to chopping recored samples from my turntable on my 2kXL, but I also wanted to know if it's possible to slice/chop/create events on a .wav Jungle Break that I've imported via my CF card.

Is this even possible or would you recommend chopping it in Logic and then exporting the individual samples to the MPC as .wav files?

Neither is right or wrong.

I'm not asking if it's right of wrong. I'm asking if it's possible to chop the .wav file / Track on the MPC just like you do when you sample a record. And if so, how do I do it?

I've googled for a few days and only get tutorials on how to sample and then chop it. Not how to import an audio file with a breakbeat on it and then chop it.

I'm super grateful that you are answering me. But I don't know how to specify my question more so you understand. I fully know how to operate the 2KXL with a CF card and how all that works and I haven't asked any of those questions that you are answering above.

The question I'm asking is: Can chop up a .wav file that's already on the MPC. Cut it into events and then assign them to the 16 pads in the MPC just like you do after sampling a record?.

Even more detailed:

I have a Jungle breakbeat sampled from my computer that's about 10 seconds. I have then imported that sample into the MPC. Now I'm wondering if I can edit the sample, create Events in the sample and chop up the sample so I can make my own beat out of the instruments that are now chopped.

I have gotek floppy emulator not a cf reader, but they work the same in that as far as the mpc concerned. You can chop whatever you want from floppy, cf, or usb as long as it's the right format. If it is the correct format, you can load it off the disk into your mpc's ram and chop to your heart's content. (the disk referencing usb, floppy, or cf card) 2000's can read sound or 16 bit wav files.

If you don't know how to load samples into yer mpc I'd take a couple hours and read the manual as it's super helpful.

also make sure your samples' names aren't longer than 8 characters long. Or the mpc won't load them.
