Midi send mute on mpc2000xl

I have my machinedrum as my master and my mpc as my slave.. I can overdub drum samples fine but when i connect my synth via midi out on the mpc the drum samples that i overdubbed on my mpc play their corresponding midi note on my synth. so the drum samples on the mpc and my synth play at the same time. How can i mute the midi send on the pads I assigned drum samples to so I can use separate pads for playing my synth. I couldn't find anything in the manual about this wondering if anyone knows a solution?
