This problem is happening way too often...

When I try to load an APS or a sound...sometimes even a sequence that I have saved on the mpc2kxl from floppy, I am getting a disk read error and it wont load...all the work I have done is lost....

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Its happening a shit load....

HELP!

Bless,

Is this happening to one particular floppy, or lots of them?

It might be worth getting one of those floppy drive cleaners. Also, if you know someone else with an MPC, see if theirs can read that floppy. If it can, load all the data to their machine & then re-save it to a brand new floppy.

This is a common problem with floppies. Sometimes the recordable surface inside the shell gets stuck & just shaking the disk a bit can loosen it up again. Sometimes applying a bit of gentle pressure on the top of the exposed edge of the disk while it is in the drive can help. Again, if either of these methods works, load up all the data to immediatly & re-save on a fresh disk.

And get a Zip drive ASAP.......

yea get that zip.

would this have anything to do with that little switch in the upper corner of the disk? the write-protect switch. cause if its switched on it wont let you write anything to the disk. maybe thats only for saving, but its worth a try
