two better than one?

my mpc2000xl has an internal 250mb zip... im thinking of getting a scsi one as well for a backup drive and to copy files etc between the two drives...

just wondering whether there would be any problems with using two zips? i cant think of any since the internal one is on atapi but just wanted to check.

Of course it won't pose a problem, even if they were both scsi it would be fine since scsi devices attached to the same machine are supposed to have each a unique id. I must admit that you wouldn't really save much time in transfering data between to zips if you used to zip drives attached to your mpc since you have to load the data in to your mpc in order to save it to the other drive. The time it takes to choose the different device in the 'save' screen to save your data to takes as much time as swapping two zip disks in the same drive. I think you would have more benefit of adding a scsi cdrom drive and/or a scsi harddisk to your setup than a second zip drive.

I guess you have never had a bad Zip drive or disk? I make a living out of people sending me thier bad Akai Zip disks for repair.

I agree that making backups of your zips makes good sense but I don't see how having 2 zip drives will make this more secure than when you only have one zip drive.

I think there is a disk copy feature in the MPC... That would be far quicker and easier than loading everything to memory and saving it to another disk.

I'd like to know where this "copy" feature at?!

i will look into that disk copy feature...

thanks for the info everyone - think i will just stay put with my current internal zip drive for the moment.

Really? Then I think I remember it from the S2000...
If there's no copy function there's no use getting two drives. Just save everything to at least two disks using the same drive.
