Hi!!,

Quick question!,

If I buy a new Iomega zip drive 100 or 250 mb with USB connection can I buy a USB / SCSI adapter and get this to work with my 2kxl??

I went and asked the dude in the shop selling the Zip drives and he seemed to think it would and he told me where I can get an adapter....but I thought before I walk down to the shop selling the adapters I would come and ask the people on this forum for their opinions and advice!!

So what ya sayin??

Bless!!

well, i heard that connector DOES NOT work but i also heard it does....

are you going to be using it to transfer sounds from your computer to your mpc?

i would suggest you buy an scsi zip. it would be easier to work with instead of having to worry about if a connector would work.

i have two zip drives. one is an scsi and one is the usb. the usb is connected to my computer. but i think it would be easier on you to get the scsi zip drive.

As far as I can tell, these SCSI/USB adaptors are just to connect old SCSI gear to new USB computers. I don't think they work the other way, which is the way you want: connecting a new USB zip to your MPC's SCSI port.

They would work if you wanted to connect an old SCSI zip drive to your computer's USB port, & according to MPC3000 in a recent thread about using them this way, you can go from your MPC to your SCSI zip drive with one SCSI cable. Then connect your zip drive's second SCSI port to the SCSI/USB adaptor & connect that to your computer, so both the MPC & the computer are reading the same zip drive.

Like Smoove, I've had no problems with the two separate zip drives method. Also, you can get SCSI zips on eBay for the same price or less than these adaptors.
