i would put it thru a mixer first man then from there into your mpc

Unless you have a very new turntable with line level outputs it isn't going to be loud enough to work. You need some kind of pre-amp to boost the sound properly

It depends on your turntable and what mpc you have. The mpc4000 has a phono input, the 2000 doesn't. But you posted in the 2000 forum, so i guess you have a 2000 
90% of the turntables need a pre-amp to get up to line level. if your turntable has a pair of phono outputs AND a groundwire (usually a single thin wirewith no jacks or connectors) you'll need a pre-amp or mixer for sure.
A good dj-mixer will set you back $200. A phono pre-amp about $40.

i can dig it yall. i like it sometimes cause its a diffrent sound if you do it right. fuk with the settings on the turntable...its the key to sampling you gotta get creative. your style is yours caint nobody take it from you they may bite but a wise man said
