timing screen problem

sup y'all. I got the XL and when I try to adjust the timing of my drums,
I hit do it and
the screen freezes like for an hour. Anybody ever had this problem?
It just started doing it. Easy fix?

List step by step what ur doing, and what screen(s) ur doin it in

if that dont work maybe ram. but what are u doin? are u in the time correct screen with swing and quantize? or u in trim under edit in timestretch?

yeah, sorry I didn't make it clear, but i'm in the same screen
as the swing function, and timing. Say I want to set the snare
later. I'll set the amount and hit DO IT. I've done this many
times and usually it only takes no more than 5 seconds. But
just the other day, it started to freeze on the screen that says
"Please Wait". I got max RAM.

yeah u might have crappy ram. it will casue mad problems like freezes. get some ram from a good pc place online. I would first goto akai pro and get the operating system and reinstall it. that might work.

Also reinstall the ram...Maybe things aint sittin too tight in there

Come on, this is not a windows machine. Re-loading the OS is rarely the answer. In all my years of repairing, re-loading the OS has never been the problem. Why?

1) The OS is checksummed and will only be written to the XL's flash when completely and totally intact. That is, it is impossible to write a bad OS to flash.
2) The OS and the working area are in separate locations. There is nothing users can do on the MPC to corrupt the working memory. Even if you did, re-starting the MPC reloads the intact and correct OS from flash.
3) Flash memory used for the OS has limited lifetime cycles. It is only designed to be written to so many times. Burn that out, the MPC is as good as dead. Replacing it is no easy task since it is a surface mount component. Even if you could find a replacement part, and find someone to do SM work for you, it will likely be cheaper to buy another MPC.
