copying a sound, editing the copy....

sorry if this a dumb question, but i cant figure what im doin wrong.

see i got this little sample jus a weird little sound, and i like it but still i wanna cut it up a little, (but yet keep the original) so i copy it to another pad, rename it, edit it in the trim screen and it still manages to edit BOTH the original and the copy? humph.

any help ppreciated.

copying to another pad is still triggering the same sample......copy it and make it a new sound name in the trim screen(not just on another pad in programs)....then you an edit it and put the new sound on a pad....hope this helps

oops, wait...maybe i read it wrong.....if you already made another sound....just go bak to the original sound and make sure you undo what you did to select the portion you wanted to cut up...

Copy the sound using the copy function. editing the copy after that will not affect the original.

Just to elaborate on what has already been said, assigning a sample to more than one pad doesn't make a duplicate copy of the sample. You just have different pads playing the same sample. You could assign that one sample to all 16 pads on all four banks, give each one different tunings, envelopes & filtering ..... but it is still the one sample.

In the edit /trim screen "openWindow" on the originalsample and copy and then you can rename it.....Hope this help some.....
