mpc 2000 vs. triton LE

Could someone please explain the big difference between these two pieces of equipment. From what i understand, both can sample but the Le comes with sounds while the mpc does not. But as I look around I see some people use both together. Why? If the triton Le does everything the mpc does, then why have them both? Anyway I am a bit confused. Hopefully someone can explain the whole deal to me.

triton is a keyboard right?
mpc is a drum sampler. it is for making beats and cut/paste sample based stuff. stuff like dj shadow for example.

triton is for making your own melodies on the keyboard using the built in sounds, or with sounds you might sample, think dr dre songs. unless you already know how to play piano i would go for the mpc.

I think its just a matter of preferrence. I work with a partner, and his musical foundation is R&B, he grew up playin keys by ear and imitating producers of that genre. Therefore he uses a keyboard for the majority of his work (even drumz... I don't undastand it myself)

My foundation is in Hip hop. And I grew up bangin on tables, make dub tapes with a pause button, and beat boxin in the corner of the boys bathroom. Even on those ole skool keyboards, I focused on the drum section and the cheap sample function. So naturally my preferrence would be the MP.

Triton can do a whole lot sonically but can you hook other keyboards up to it, control them, and sucessfully integrate them as a single piece of gear, and have good sequencing control?

Good luck sequencing a song on the LE that shit is not easy. I have an LE and only use it for the sounds. I have the 2000XL also. I make hiphop and R&B and need one keyboard for Presets the rest of my stuff is sample based with synths. You usually need one keyboard or rack or something to give you a bell sound or some keys or something. It adds variety to your music. I'm selling my LE and getting a Motif rack because the triton sounds are played to Death.

The drums on the Triton sound so gay. I took my MPC to school one day, and sampled the shit loads of sounds from the triton. Mostly strings and sound effects, shit the Triton is good for.

Yeah it is different from the MPC, althougth I like the independent track looping feature. however, the Cue List sucks, if you don't convert the Cue List into a song, you have gaps in between your steps which isnt cool. The MPC's song feature is the bomb.
