I just bought the Iomega 100mb Plus! SCSI Zip Drive on Ebay with a dish load of disks at a good price....

The drive has a SCSI I.D 5/6 switch on the back and the manual says it has automatic termination....

Only thing is....the cables that came with it are only 25 pin and the connection on my 2kxl is 50 pin.....if I get the correct cable should this drive work?? or am I wasting my time?

It all seems exactly what I want except for that connection lead...

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated,,

It sounds ok. I haven't encountered the "automatic termination" feature but I'm sure it does what it says.

I've never understood why Akai used that different SCSI port on the XL. The basic 2000 has the same style port as the zip drive so the cable that comes with the zip is fine.

Sorry bout this ,

but ive had a look over at that SCSI For Samplers site and I am having trouble identifying the actual cable I need...

Am i right in thinking its this one??

CBL-DBS2-3
3 foot DB-25 Male to SCSI-2 HD50 Male.

I just got a 50 pin male and its the wrong size...its way too big....I didnt realise there was two types of 50pin SCSI!!!

AAaahhh,

Help!,

Your MPC uses SCSI-2. Sounds like you got a hold of SCSI-1. IT's specified in the back of the XL manual.
