Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi there
I wandered if anyone could help?
I have had my MPC 2000 for about six months now and only recently have purchased the effect board. It seem that the effect board can only be routed through the stereo outs on V 1.0.

Was there a later 2000 post v 1.0?

or did it just evolve to the xl?

if so would i be able to upgrade to the newer version?

:(

Version 1.72 I think it is. You need it to use the effects board. You can download it from akaipro.com

hi there
The thing is i do already have v 1.72
in the manual it states that you can route the individual outs to 'E' which i am presuming is fx and the manual says that the fx will not work on
ver 1.0.

The fx board works fine an all but when I boot up my MPC it reads boot rom ver 1.00 before it loads up operating system ver 1.72.
Also when i took my mpc apart to install the effects board, i noticed a chip on the mother board which had a sticker that said ver 1.00.
I was wandering if this is a fixed physical due to the model of this particular mpc 2000 or this can be changed (a newer boot chip installed) or maybe it is to do with the OS but like i said i have 1.72.
any thoughts?
:?

The 1.0 ROM is similar ot the BIOS on your computer (you know that first screen that shows the mainboard version and the memory count). There was no newer ROM and all the features were added through OS updates.

The problem you *think* you have is not related to the boot rom of your MPC. You should find and read the OS 1.7 addendum to the MPC2000 manual, which states that you can route the effects to the individual outs.
