I have an MPC 2000XL and Pro Tools. Can you tell me how to run my sequences into Pro Tools via Midi? Is this possible with just the MPC, or do I need even something else for thsi to work? thanks

you first need a good sound card with audio inputs.. RCA!

Whats up homie..so you wanna use pro tools with your mpc right? ok let me know what you have (mbox, 001,002) or do you even have pro tools or do you have pro tools free....well im gona say you have the 001 cause if you have the m-box its still all good but you will need a midi sport 1x1 or higher. ok first for your mpc you want pro tools to be the master and control your mpc so when you put pro tools in record stand by and once you hit play on pro tools it will trigger the mpc to play and you can also make the mpc go back to zero from the mpc but ok this is what you do first with the mpc PRESS SHIFT (9) ON THE MPC that will take you to the mdi sync screen. in a nut shell you want to chage the ....Sync (in:#) to what ever midi out number your using, it can only be 1 or 2 but if your not using a keyboard it should be 1. well as far as the.....Sync out(out:a or b or ab) dont worry about that just leave that as is and leave everything off. Back to the Sync in(In:#) this side is all you need to worry about cause you wont need the mpc to take to pro tools cause pro tools will be the master and controling the mpc. on the sync in side turn Mode: MIDI TIME CODE and set the Frame rate:30 or MIDI CLOCK( cause on pro tools youll need to do the same.....One more thing on the main screen go to the Now:001.01.00 part and open the window alson turn the Fram rate:30 and make sure the start time is on all zeros.......................................................Ok thats the mpc now lets go to pro tools first go to the setups/peripherals/sync tab(turn the Port to what ever midi interface your using). From the same screen click on the machine control tab and check the enable box and choose your midi interface on the send to box. In the pre roll box enter 30 for the frames.
now go to WINDOWS/Show session set up/(make sure mtc box is check and your midi interface is set up. now go hit space bar watch you control your mpc from pro tools

man all that didnt come out to clear cause im still new with pro tools but thats how i got all my stuff hook up and what i got going on with pro tools i know that should be enuff for you to smile a lil i think as time go you can read the book more and get it 100 percent correct but i know that should be at lease 85 percent right... o yea one more thing when you hook up the midi wire (you really only need one) just hook it up from the 001 midi out to the mpc midi in (that should be 1 or 2)
holla
